The introduction of the DC Universe, which will have a younger version of Superman is the reason behind the casting change. This left Henry Cavill’s version out of this new section. So, as the movie’s release date is coming sooner, further info is also getting revealed.

The fresh news following the movie is that James Gunn’s Superman flick has found its Lex Luthor, too. And the actor who is in talks to play the character is Nicholas Hoult.

James Gunn chose Nicholas Hoult to portray Lex Luthor—the powerful and bald-headed archenemy of Superman—in the upcoming Superman film. However, the point is that no deal is done regarding the casting. Only it is in the talks since the strike.

If this deal goes through, Nicholas Hoult will join the growing list of actors transitioning from the MCU to the DCU—taking on the villain role. His previous role was as Beast in the X-Men series.

These days, Hoult has a lot on his plate, with roles in Clint Eastwood’s legal thriller Juror #2, voicing Jon in the animated film Garfield, and featuring in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu.

It seems like Nicholas Hoult is ready to join the dark side. As the Tolkien actor is now considered for the character of Lex Luthor in the highly anticipated Superman: Legacy. His involvement is just in talks, but the former Lex Luthor actor is excited to see him taking on the character.

Cryer had previously played Lenny Luthor, Lex Luthor’s nephew, in the 1987 film Superman IV: The Quest for Peace starring Christopher Reeve. He then played Lex Luthor in Supergirl and other Arrowverse series. The actor reposted an X post of The Hollywood Reporter and wrote that Hoult “would absolutely crush this [the character of Lex Luthor].”

Hoult’s potential involvement in the Superman movie will surely introduce an intriguing twist to the superhero narrative. Lex Luthor, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster debuted in 1940. Known for his intelligence, wealth, and lack of superhuman abilities, Luthor relies on his scientific and technological chops in confronting the Man of Steel.
