Gojo Satoru’s death in Chapter 236 of Jujutsu Kaisen made the manga shift gear to a much darker theme. The blue-eyed sorcerer was believed to be the only one who could stop Ryomen Sukuna’s quest for 20 fingers but he was slashed in half. Villains are clearly at an advantage since Gojo is eliminated and Sukuna has taken control of Megumi’s body.
Despite his ascension to the afterlife, Gojo Satoru may not be entirely written off from Jujutsu Kaisen. A fan theory suggests that the Special Grade sorcerer may return to the foray with a new technique, which Gege Akutami has foreshadowed since the release of Volume 4. Gojo’s return will result in a massive shift in the storyline which has been favoring Sukuna’s tyranny.

Gojo Satoru Could Return To Jujutsu Kaisen With A Brand-New Technique
Characters returning to the world of the living after being killed isn’t a new concept in Shonen. Naruto, Dragon Ball, and Bleach have featured reincarnations, supposed deaths, sealings, and more. However, Jujutsu Kaisen has taken a much more realistic approach in its treatment of characters, such that there have been no incidents where a dead character has been re-animated.
Even though the chances of Gojo Satoru’s return seem almost negligible, a fan theory has linked several ‘evidence’ to resurge the hype around the character. X user Baeli pointed out how the color white has been associated with Gojo throughout the series.

The cover for Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 4 featured white light coming out of Satoru’s palms while a similar light came out of his fingers in the July 2023 edition of the series. Adding to the mysteriousness of such power, the ‘pencil scene’ in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 13 showcased Gojo spinning a pencil to depict the different cursed energy techniques such as red, blue, and green. At the end of the scene, the pencil emanated a white glow.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 242 has hinted that the Hollow technique: White does exist. When being asked about a question relating to physics, Kenjaku answers ‘hadrons.’ Hadrons are made of three colors – red, blue, and green – and they need to be combined to obtain white. Given the caliber of Gojo Satoru, the white-haired sorcerer might have mastered the white technique, which could be the source of his impending reincarnation.
The fan theory also suggested that Gojo would target Kenjaku upon his return. This makes sense, given that the villain had sealed the sorcerer in the Prison Realm and took him out of the action for most of the Shibuya Incident Arc.

How Did Gojo Satoru Die In Jujutsu Kaisen?

Upon being freed from the Prison Realm, Gojo Satoru immediately challenged Sukuna to put an end to the chaos altogether. Their battle lasted three chapters, with both hurling multiple cursed objects and techniques from Chapter 233 onwards. A rage-consumed Gojo was on the offensive since the beginning, allowing the villain to unnoticeably bypass his techniques.
Mahoraga turned out to be an ace up in Sukuna’s sleeve. The Shikigami rendered Gojo’s Infinity technique ineffective by manipulating the cursed energy surrounding the blue-eyed sorcerer, slashing one of his arms in the process. Satoru Gojo was able to fend off Agito, Mahoraga, and Sukuna with Hollow: Purple but it was a temporary setback for the villains.
Chapter 236 begins with Gojo speaking to his friends in the afterlife. After the shocking revelation, it is revealed that Ryomen Sukuna had slashed the special-grade sorcerer in half with his Dismantle slashing technique. Instead of targeting Satoru, Sukuna aimed his Dismantle at the world itself, so there was no way for the ‘Limitless’ user to counter.
Previously, it was believed that Gojo could use Reverse Cursed Technique to heal himself but the injuries were severe. His body was never found after the fight with Sukuna. Therefore, fans believe Gege Akutami could re-introduce the character after an elaborate return angle.
